Games For Mental Health

Gaming Approaches Towards Education, LLC (GATE) is a mental health service provider in Metuchen, NJ that uses a mixture of cognitive-behavioral therapy, play therapy, and Autism play to help individuals and families create healthy thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Our therapists use board games, storytelling, and role-playing to work through the challenges you’re facing due to your mental health issues.

We believe games emphasize individual and family strengths. These activities make us think, feel, and adapt to different situations. Play can become a way to practice for everyday life and promote mental health.

Our licensed counselors and licensed clinical social workers provide both individual therapy and group therapy and specialize in therapy for people diagnosed with ADHD, Autism, and Anxiety. No matter which type of mental health therapy is right for you, GATE can provide a safe environment that will facilitate your mental health growth.

We accept insurance, including Horizon and Aetna.

Our Approach

Three evidence-based methods working together to create real, measurable change.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Identify and change unhelpful thought patterns that impact behavior.

Narrative-Based Work

Reframe personal stories and build a more effective sense of identity.

Structured Skill-Building

Develop practical skills for regulation, communication, and decision-making.

What You'll Actually Get From Therapy

Better Emotional Control

Learn how to regulate emotions and respond instead of react in real situations.

Clearer Thinking

Identify and change thought patterns that keep you stuck or overwhelmed.

Stronger Relationships

Improve communication, boundaries, and connection with others.

Real-World Functioning

Build skills that improve focus, follow-through, and daily life performance.

Take control of your own story and move forward with greater clarity and direction.

Why Parents Trust Us

We help kids find their voice—and help parents understand what their child needs.

Licensed & Specialized

Board-certified therapists trained in play therapy—because kids show us what they’re feeling through play, not words.

Proven Method

A narrative-based form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, designed to measure progress and help clients control their own life stories.

Experience with Resistant Kids

We excel at reaching kids who say ‘no’ to typical talk therapy. Your child won’t be forced to sit and chat.

Progress You’ll Actually See

We use the therapeutic powers of play to track real improvements and celebrate milestones with families. You’ll know exactly how therapy is helping.
