What is Individual Therapy?


Individual therapy is a type of psychotherapy where a therapist will work with you one-on-one to work through mental health issues. Individual therapy allows a safe, confidential space for you to build trust with your therapist so you can focus on improving your mental health.

Our counselors will help you recognize the symptoms of your diagnosis or negative thought patterns and help you create healthy coping strategies. While this treatment may not make your problems disappear, it will equip you with the tools to handle them better.

Play Therapy

At GATE, we use tools such as board games, storytelling, role-playing, sand trays, and expressive arts in our therapy services. These activities help with critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and more.

GATE Therapy Intake Process

At GATE, we want your therapy experience to be stress-free. Our therapists follow a process that helps you begin your journey into our therapy services. These steps include consultation, evaluation, and initial appointment.


We will gather information about a prior diagnosis, insurance, and treatment desires during this part of our therapy process. You can choose whether you prefer in-person or telehealth sessions, and we’ll set you up with our confidential web-based program, TheraNest, which helps keep all of your information in one spot.


Next, you’ll fill out a self-evaluation with your therapist. Our counselors will then conduct their own evaluation to help determine the appropriate level of care you need. Once you both reach a type of treatment that suits your mental health needs, our therapists will create a treatment plan that reflects these desires.


Once you reach the appointment phase of your therapy process, you can confirm or cancel appointments based on your availability. You can apply credit card information for co-payments and check when you have appointments, all on Theranest.
